CropIn was founded in Bengaluru, capital of the southern India state of Karnataka, India, by Krishna, Chittaranjan Jena (Jena), and Kunal Prasad (Kunal) in 2010. The trigger for CropIn’s agritech platform was the agrarian crisis in 2010 in the state. Farmers in the state were facing numerous problems such as climatic variations, pest infestations, financial problems, and unpredictable farm outputs. Krishna said, “The idea was to do something for a sector that desperately needs technology.
